The Grace Sawyer Library
The Grace Sawyer Library
The library is tightly woven into the fabric of the school. In addition to scheduled library periods, an "open-door policy" encourages classes and individuals to use the library as needed. It is visited regularly by students, faculty, administrators, alumni, caregivers, tutors, and parents. Borrowing books to take home is encouraged, and the Librarian is happy to work in partnership with parents in makinig appropriate literary choices.
The Grace Sawyer Library Statement of Mission
The Grace Sawyer Library provides children with a welcoming setting that challenges the intellect and invites reflection and recreation. A diverse and wide-ranging selection of resources enhances children’s growth and learning, while encouraging discovery of themselves and the world around them. We encourage children to read by providing unique opportunities to make meaningful connections to books and reading. Ultimately, we hope to have every child regard books as an indispensable part of life.

Library Volunteers
All parents are invited to take part in an invaluable and dynamic parent volunteer committee. No experience is necessary and all are welcome. Please contact the Parent Association’s Library Committee co-chairs or the Librarian if you are interested in becoming involved. Children whose parents are volunteering may drop into the After School Program free of charge during the volunteer time.
The award-winning Grace Sawyer Library was created in 1997 thanks to the generosity of St. Luke’s School alumni, parents, faculty, and friends. It is named after Grace Sawyer, a St. Luke’s teacher and parishioner whose commitment and creativity enriched the lives of all whom she touched..
