Academics

Our academic program at St. Luke’s is rigorous, developmentally informed, and interdisciplinary: we use students’ strengths to help them progress in all areas. Our K-8 model is designed to instill students with flexibility, empathy, and curiosity in their early education. They enter the Upper School equipped with creative problem-solving skills, ready for a curriculum that is both challenging and supportive.

Arts

ARTS

Our arts programs are grounded in experience and discovery. Children are encouraged to take risks and explore creative expression in multiple forms. They develop artistic literacy through visual art, dance, drama, and music programs. Our interdisciplinary curriculum allows students to both cultivate emergent talents and uncover new ones. Because the arts are woven into our core curriculum, all students gain confidence and learn to see themselves as an artist, both individually and in collaboration with others.

Athletics

A hallmark of our interscholastic athletics programs is its inclusive support of all students. The program allows students to pursue their interest in sports while developing leadership and teamwork skills. Because all students are encouraged to participate in any clubs and teams that appeal to them, they’re introduced to sports as a place to learn, build community, and have fun. Students begin to see themselves as a crucial member of the team and to build confidence in all they are capable of, both on the field and off.

Field Trips

Field trips

At St. Luke’s, we understand that though some lessons begin in the classroom, the learning doesn’t stop there. We intentionally support our curriculum, mission, and values with experiences in the field. Aligning with developmental and curricular landmarks, students go on local trips in our immediate community, intentional explorations around the greater NYC metropolitan area, and educational adventures outside our city and state. An early understanding that we are all citizens of the classroom, but also citizens of a larger world, allows our students to become just and kind leaders.

After School program

St. Luke’s supports the development of well-rounded children who are empowered to grow both deeply and widely across their interests and passions. After the traditional school day ends, our After School Program begins and offers students across ages a great variety of extracurricular classes and activities to learn a new skill, practice a cherished one, and build community with their peers. From cooking classes to individual music lessons to skateboarding instruction, our students have opportunities to develop passions and enrich their learning.
