A Professional Staff of Lifelong Learners.

St. Luke’s School is a community that seeks to awaken a “lifelong love of learning in its students.” The school understands that in order to do this well, the entire professional staff must serve as examples for students. Therefore, the school has an ongoing commitment to support every staff member's professional learning. We seek to maintain a professional staff that reflects the diversity of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and religious pluralism of our community.

our Associate teacher Program

The Associate Teacher Program at St. Luke’s School offers a rich learning experience for aspiring teachers enrolled in or having completed a Master’s Degree program. They learn from an experienced Lead Teacher in Grades 1 - 3. Our 2-year program provides Associates with a full range of co-teaching experiences including curriculum development, collaborative lesson planning, student assessment practices, progress report writing, and participation in parent-teacher conferences.

St. Luke’s Associates are deeply engaged in all schoolwide professional learning experiences and community events. As a cohort, the Associates meet bimonthly as part of a Professional Learning Community (PLC), which may include Lead Teachers, Specialists, and different members of the Administration. These PLCs focus on problems of practice, honing skills in planning, and practicing giving and receiving feedback as part of their adult learning. In partnership with other Associate Teachers they plan and present a Descriptive Review of a Child, among other protocols for observing and recording student’s social, emotional, and academic development.

Associate Teachers are mentored by the Assistant Head of Lower School who conducts observations, provides feedback throughout the year, and advises them in the hiring process in their journey to becoming a Lead Teacher. Interested in becoming an Associate Teacher at St. Luke’s? We post openings in the beginning of the calendar year.
