Situated in the heart of Manhattan, St. Luke’s students learn to be true community members: in school and beyond.
We are deeply committed to fostering a sense of community and social responsibility in our students through meaningful partnerships in our community and service learning initiatives. These experiences both enrich our curriculum and support the growth of our students into active citizens and leaders of change. From our youngest students in Junior Kindergarten to our leaders in Grade 8, every St. Luke’s student is taught to see themself as an integral, responsible member of all communities they inhabit.
We encourage our students to investigate the connections between those who are served and institutional structures and policies. We want them to move beyond “band-aid” service and toward action geared towards the dismantling of the cycles of inequality and oppression.
St. Luke’s gave our daughter the tools to believe in herself and the knowledge that an engaged citizen can make important contributions to society."

Service is a core initiative of the school. We actively seek out partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to provide our students with real-world learning opportunities. These opportunities help students gain confidence to advocate for themselves and others, and learn to address and respond to injustices in the world. Through these collaborations, our students engage in projects and activities that address community needs while learning about and through service – a foundation upon which St. Luke’s is firmly built.
