Athletics

A hallmark of the interscholastic program is that it is inclusive and supportive of all students. The program allows students to pursue their interest in sports while developing skills of leadership and teamwork and promoting physical fitness. Students are expected to attend all games and practices. Athletes compete against other New York City independent schools such as Village Community, Friends Seminary, City & Country, Little Red/Elisabeth Irwin, Packer Collegiate, Berkeley Carroll, Cathedral and Bank Street.

COVID-19 RESPONSE:

St. Luke’s will be offering in-person athletic classes beginning Monday, October 5, and running through Thursday, November 19.

The first season will be soccer, and it will be offered by grade level once per week from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on the playground. All students are welcome to sign up.

  • Monday — Grade 5
  • Tuesday — Grade 6
  • Wednesday — Grade 7
  • Thursday — Grade 8

We have taken many measures to ensure the safety of our athletes. Here are some of the guidelines we will be following:

  • Equipment: The only required equipment for the fall season are shin guards and a water bottle.
  • Masks: All athletes will be required to wear masks. Mask breaks will be given under the instruction of the coach.
  • Sanitizing: All equipment will be cleaned before and after each practice. Hand-sanitizing breaks will take place every thirty minutes.
  • Social Distance: Athletes will be required to maintain social distance.
There will be no interscholastic competitions this fall. As guidelines are updated, we will reassess our athletic offerings.

Participation in athletics is an integral part of the student’s life at St. Luke’s.

The St. Luke's community standards are carefully woven throughout our athletic teams:

  • Dignity
  • Compassion
  • Respect
  • Excellence
  • Honesty
