Welcome from the Head of School

Learning with Joy. Leading with Heart.

St. Luke’s School is a special place where children explore their curiosity, develop confidence in who they are, and stand courageously for what they believe. These attributes of a St. Luke’s student are supported by each member of our community and every corner of our campus. A hidden gem of the West Village, our school provides students with gardens, playgrounds, spacious classrooms, and rooftop learning and play spaces that ignite their imaginations and inspire their interests.

At St. Luke's, children are at the center of all we do. We believe in the importance of celebrating childhood as well as affirming and challenging students as they develop during these important elementary and middle school years. We are dedicated to centering children within an outstanding educational experience. To become lifelong learners, students must feel the freedom and confidence to be bold in their thinking and take risks in their pursuit of knowledge. This intellectual courage is founded on a sense of belonging. St. Luke's students form meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, and peers—relationships built on listening to and learning from one another. It's evident that the St. Luke's community, grounded in its Episcopal identity and over 75-year history, values these qualities. As Head of School, I'm excited for our shared future as we build on the foundation we've established together.

When I first entered the gates of St. Luke’s, I immediately felt the connectedness of the St. Luke’s community and the joy students take in their learning. When you visit our campus, you will be in awe of both the students, with their exceptional engagement in learning, and the adult community, with their enthusiasm to create lasting bonds. We assure students a place in the classroom, a place at the table, and a place in the world. St. Luke's is an oasis in the heart of our beautiful and diverse city. Our families come from every borough and beyond. We meet here, on our two-acre landmark block in the historic West Village, because St. Luke's is a home away from home. We value every voice. We nurture belonging so that each student can feel confident in their identity and advocate for themselves and others. We work to create equitable spaces and structures so that all students have access to teachers, resources, challenging learning, and opportunities to feel appreciated, affirmed, and celebrated. Our students are well-rounded individuals encouraged to bring their full selves to their school life.

At St. Luke’s we honor the joys of learning and instill the importance of kindness at each developmental stage, from our youngest voices in JK to our leaders in Grade 8. The St. Luke’s journey is an expansive and joyful one, and I am delighted and proud to share our school with you. I invite you to visit us—walk through our gates, witness the magic of our classrooms, and experience the joy of our special community.
