Welcome to the St. Luke's School Community!
Never in my lived experience has being part of a beloved community dedicated to serving children, united by enduring values, and driven by an audacious mission been more comforting, been more motivating, or been more important. In recent years, our country and our world have been confronted with countless challenges.
And yet at St. Luke’s School, small but mighty, we are strengthened by our challenges and not defined by them. We are reimagining and reinventing education so we can move forward with learning and living. We are rising up and moving forward as a community committed to individual, interpersonal, and institutional growth so we can be radically welcoming and affirming of all of our families and their children. We are reaching out and digging deep to make sure that there is both awareness of and support for our families’ financial health as well as their emotional and intellectual well-being.
Above all, we are a joyful community. We often skip to class. We gather giggles and laughter as affirmation of engagement and learning. If our smiles are hidden by our masks, we make sure they are present in our eyes, for being physically distant or virtual does not and will not diminish the very real relationships of trust, care, and affirmation that guide our planning and nourish our children.
We research carefully, collaborate extensively, and innovate intentionally to be sure that what we teach and how we teach support why we teach — to ignite curiosity, instill confidence, and inspire courage. In so doing, we commit to educating children as we raise citizens who realize that they can be effective members of our larger world and powerful change agents within it.
Marian Wright Eldelman wrote: “Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.” St. Luke’s School is better because of the families who join our community, and by working in concert to live our mission and serve our children, we believe the world will be better as well.
